Warning Tow release

This warning is valid for all winch releases with metallic components. A winch release manufactured by Charly suffered a broken weld on the joining component to the webbing strap. Through the resulting one-sided winch pull, the pilot suffered a twist and had to deploy his rescue parachute. Luckily he only suffered slight injuries. The DHV publicised a safety advisory on 12.07.2006 regarding a broken weld on a winch release. We request that all winch pilots check their releases carefully before the next flight. Welding joints should be continuous and not only punctual. If this is not the case, please contact the manufacturer.
